Bududa district has registered its first Covid-19 cases five months after the pandemic broke out in the country.
The two patients whose names were concealed for fear of being victimised are residents of Bumasata Parish in Bulucheke Sub County and Cunamee ward in Kuushu town council respectively.
The duo are believed to have been bed ridden for weeks while showing the symptoms of Covid 19 something that raised the eyebrows of the health workers.
The victims have now been referred to Mulago isolation centre where they are taking medication as they trace their contacts in communities.
Zeles Nabusaayi the Covid-19 focal person in Bududa confirmed the cases in the district and asked all residents in those areas where those patients come from not to move anyhow as this may lead to the spread of the disease to other communities.
She said they have kicked off a sensitisation campaign in several communities in the district to see that they kick out the pandemic.
Yonasan Bululu, the vice chairman of Bududa, said it time for those who thought that the disease is still far to be aware and vigilant.
He urged them to adhere to the ministry of Health guidelines of social distancing, washing hands with soap, wearing masks among others.
Seera Wambi a resident of Bumasata parish who spoke on behalf of others blamed government for not supplying masks to the locals saying this shall spark the spread of the disease to other communities.
She asked the ministry of Health to expedite the distribution of masks.
